In the newly published book, The Message of the Latter Rain, you will find clear explanations that remove the fog that has obscured the love of God for alienated and lost humanity for more than 1500 years. The Protestant Reformation began the work of uncovering this great concept. Despite the work of John Calvin, Jacobus Arminius, and John Wesley none of whom uncovered the truth of corporate justification, the light of the Reformation sputtered and was almost extinguished by the beginning of the 19th century. For the last four centuries many honest Christians and interested unbelieving observers have been peering through the remaining fog resulting from unanswered questions related to the long standing debate between Calvinists and Arminians. It was not until two young men from California, A. T. Jones and E. J. Waggoner, presented the truth of Christ and His righteousness at Minneapolis in 1888, that the light streaming from the throne of God came into focus and we could finally settle the Calvinist vs Arminian debate. Understanding justification and righteousness by faith, and the corollary truth of the nature which Christ assumed in His incarnation, equips us to process and resolve these complex theological issues adequately.
Commenting on the message presented at the Minneapolis conference, one well known author wrote, "The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family" (Testimonies to Ministers, 91-92).
As a result of the clear understanding of these two young preachers we were told, "The message of the gospel of His grace was to be given to the church in clear and distinct lines, that the world should no longer say that Seventh-day Adventists talk the law, the law, but do not teach or believe Christ" (Testimonies to Ministers, 92).
In this new book you will find the truth about God's plan to save mankind, a plan that saves the believer from their sin, and prepares the individual to face his God robed in Christ's righteousness. Thus prepared, he is ready for the blotting out of sin and its corollary the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary, and the wedding of Christ and His bride. This is the message commanded to be preached to the world (Matthew 24:18-20), the "third angels' message in verity." When these truths are preached with the power of the Holy Spirit through the outpouring of the latter rain, then the prophecy of Revelation 18:4 will be fulfilled. Even now, some have said, "The fog is starting to clear."
